Canada Bans Unhealthy American Products

Unhealthy productsThe Canadian government is seriously worried about the well-being of the citizens and actively promotes healthy products while making risky products from over-the-border illegal. It means that numerous manufacturers all over the country have no right to use certain components in food products, as well as the owners of the restaurants, are prohibited to deal with any of the illegal additives in the list.

It’s not only about certain American products, but about such components as hydrogenated oils also known as trans fats. They can be natural or industrially produced. The ban implies only industrial trans fats. For many years they served as a convenient replacement for butter. It was added to pastry, pasta, and numerous snacks.

Researches from Cohealthop.org have proved that trans fats cause a spike in “bad” cholesterol levels. This leads to problems with the heart muscle and numerous blood health conditions. The aim of the Canadian government is to save hundreds of lives by eliminating the additive preventing our blood vessels from normal work.

American Foods Banned in Canada

The following products and foods are considered unsafe for the Canadian population. They are also banned in the majority of the countries in the world.

rBGH

Milk and all dairy products containing bovine growth hormone. Foods like these are banned not only in Canada but in Europe as well. The hormone is used to make cows produce more milk than they normally can. Unfortunately, active components of the injections are present in the product itself.

Potassium Bromate

This addition can be found in pastries and bread. In the United States, it is legal but in Canada, it is banned. In the US is regularly added to the dough in order to improve its qualities and simplify the process of cooking. Potassium bromate helps cookies and buns feel soft and fluffy. Bread rises faster and is unlikely to lose its shape in the process of baking. Unfortunately, scientists have proved that potassium bromate provokes cancer.

GMOs

Genetically modified products have not been dangerous for health yet. Nevertheless, Canadian and European governments strictly ban the sales of these vegetables and fruit. However, genetic modification is simply destined to make them stronger and healthier. They don’t suffer from diseases and they are resistant to numerous climatic conditions.

BHA & BHT

Butylated hydroxyanisole and butylated hydroxytoluene are components of fatty products. They are salty meat snacks, chips, and crisps. They are definitely not safe and they are not organic. Nevertheless, products with these components are sold all over the world and in the United States as well. They are destined to preserve the life of the product for as long as it is possible. Even FDA has nothing against these components. Nevertheless, some of the European and Canadian governments ban the sales of foods containing BHA and BHT.

Food Dyes

It is all about synthetic food dyes. Some of them are banned in the United States, but most of them are still used there. Quite a lot of food manufacturers try hard to avoid using them because the suppliers of these artificial food dyes label their products with the following:

  • May cause cancer;
  • Provoke allergies in children;
  • Causes hyperactivity.

Most renowned Canadian manufacturers of food products don’t want their products to be labeled like this as well. It creates a misleading reputation. They do their best and invest in natural dyes. Even such monsters as Mars and Kraft slowly, but steadily replace the chemical dyes in their candies giving way to natural coloring.
